November 22, 2010 – Alzheimer’s is a progressive and fatal brain disease that as many as 5.3 million Americans are living with, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. It is the most common form of dementia, a term that describes serious loss of cognitive ability beyond what is expected from normal aging. The disease has no cure, but symptoms can be managed through medication and mental activities.
A 2010 study conducted by The National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) cited Alzheimer’s/confusion as the second-most predominant reason for care by America’s caregivers. . .
